A. Shahem Kawji, M.D., earned his medical degree from the University of Aleppo, Faculty of Medicine, in Aleppo, Syria and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas and a research fellowship in ophthalmology at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Kawji is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in inpatient hospital medicine. He joined Lakeside Medical Associates as a hospitalist during the Spring of 2007.

Dr. Kawji maintains professional memberships with the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). He is currently affiliated with Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center.

In his spare time, he works on his research projects in glaucoma at the University of Southern California and enjoys spending time with his newly born baby.
